Where can my dog actually go?

Corfu is greener, flatter and easier on a dog than the Cyclades, but the luxury hotels haven't caught up. Eight four and five-star hotels on our list take dogs, and most of the big resorts say no: Ikos Dassia, Ikos Odisia, Kontokali Bay, Corfu Palace, Rodostamo, MarBella and Costa Botanica among them. Plenty of apartments and villas take dogs, but at hotel level this is the list.

Read the access column before the fee. Angsana, Domes of Corfu and both Grecotel resorts keep the dog out of every restaurant, bar, pool and beach, so it's a room and the lanes. Nido at Agios Ioannis Peristeron has the best welcome, with a bed, bowls and a pet menu, and points you to its beach, gardens and hiking paths. Fundana Villas, a restored Venetian estate in the olive groves at Liapades, has its own dog play area and takes dogs free. Restia on Almyros beach provides bowls and pet-sitting in specific suites. Domes Miramare at Moraitika, adults-only on the beach, puts out bowls but doesn't publish which of its five dining venues the dog can join, so ask.

Weight is the other thing. Corfu Imperial, Eva Palace and Nido cap at 8 kg, Angsana and Restia at 10 kg. Domes Miramare takes one dog up to 15 kg, the highest published cap on the island, which makes it the pick for a bigger dog. Domes of Corfu says small to medium and the figure varies between 10 and 25 kg depending on who you ask, and Fundana publishes no limit, so confirm either direct. Anything much over 15 kg realistically needs a villa. Fees run from nothing at Nido and Fundana to EUR 100 per stay at Angsana, Domes of Corfu, Domes Miramare and Restia.

And Domes of Corfu is not the Domes you know from Crete. No welcome kit, no dogs at meals, no pool or beach access published. Confirm direct.

The island makes up for it. Olive-grove lanes, the Achilleion grounds, the Kommeno peninsula paths, the Mon Repos estate in town and the long flat Almyros beach in the north are all easy walking. Dogs are allowed on unorganised beaches and in the sea, which is most of Corfu's coast. The Igoumenitsa ferry takes dogs free on the open deck in about an hour and a quarter.

What happens when you get there

Beaches
Greek rules let dogs on unorganised beaches and in the sea, and that's most of Corfu's coast. The 18 Blue Flag sections for 2026, where dogs are kept off, are almost all named hotel frontages such as Glyfada at Domes of Corfu, Kommeno at Corfu Imperial and Moraitika at Domes Miramare, plus Kanoni, Agia Aikaterini and Benitses. On an island with roughly 200 km of coast, that mostly means a question for the hotel whose beach it is. Issos's dunes beyond the resort section, Halikounas, Logas and Arillas give a dog the most room.
Weight limits
Corfu Imperial, Eva Palace and Nido 8 kg. Angsana and Restia 10 kg. Domes Miramare 15 kg. Domes of Corfu says small to medium and third-party sites quote anything from 10 to 25 kg, and Fundana publishes no limit, so ask before you book.
Where the dog can go
Angsana, Domes of Corfu, Corfu Imperial and Eva Palace keep dogs out of all restaurants, bars, pools and the spa. Nido opens its beach, gardens and paths. Fundana has a dog play area. Restia and Domes Miramare don't publish dining or beach rules.
Grecotel rooms
Both Grecotel resorts take dogs only in selected villas and bungalows with private gardens, requested at the time of booking. Several booking sites wrongly show them as no pets.
Ferries
Igoumenitsa to Corfu takes about 75 to 90 minutes with Kerkyra Lines or Kerkyra Seaways. Declare the dog at booking, it travels free on the open-deck pet area, small dogs in a carrier and larger ones muzzled on a lead. From Ancona or Venice, Superfast runs overnight with bookable pet cabins or limited kennels, reserve well ahead.
Which side of the island
Angsana and Nido are south of Corfu Town near the airport, and Domes Miramare is further down the same coast at Moraitika. Corfu Imperial and Eva Palace share the Kommeno peninsula to the north. Domes of Corfu is on the west coast at Glyfada and Fundana is inland from Paleokastritsa. Restia is on the far north coast, an hour from town.
Season
Most resorts outside Corfu Town close from late October to April, and the six on this list with published seasons all close for winter. Domes Miramare and Fundana don't publish dates, so ask. May, June, September and October are the months for a dog, with cooler walking and quieter beaches.
Heat
July and August afternoons regularly reach the low to mid 30s Celsius. Walk early and late. The north-west and the hill villages, Pelekas, Liapades and Peroulades, catch more breeze.
Best walks
The Achilleion Palace grounds and Kaiser's Bridge above Benitses, the Kommeno peninsula lanes and Gouvia marina promenade, the Mon Repos estate and Spianada in Corfu Town, the Kalami to Agni coastal path, and Almyros beach to the Antinioti lagoon in the north.
When to go
May, June, September and October. July and August are hot, with afternoons in the low to mid 30s, and the hotels are full. Most resorts close from late October to April.

Is Corfu dog friendly?+

The island is, the luxury hotels less so. Eight take dogs, but four confine them to the room and grounds. Nido, Fundana and Restia are the ones with a real welcome. Walking is easy, green and mostly flat, and dogs are allowed on unorganised beaches and in the sea.

It takes one dog or cat for a EUR 100 cleaning fee, but keeps pets out of restaurants, bars, pools and the spa, and asks that they're never left alone. There's no welcome kit or dog menu, unlike Domes in Crete. Confirm the weight limit direct, sources range from 10 to 25 kg.

Is Domes Miramare dog friendly?+

Can I take my dog on the ferry to Corfu?+

Yes. From Igoumenitsa it's about 75 to 90 minutes, the dog travels free on the open-deck pet area and must be declared at booking. From Ancona or Venice, Superfast carries dogs free in a carrier but overnight you'll want a pet cabin or kennel, both booked in advance. Bring the EU pet passport.

Where should I stay in Corfu with a dog?+

South of town at Nido for the best welcome, or further down that coast at Domes Miramare for a bigger dog and a beach walk from the door. The olive groves at Fundana for a dog play area and no fee. The north coast at Restia for flat beach walking. Kommeno for the Grecotel resorts if you want a big resort and can live with the room-only rule.
